Scoring Points

Anything occurring in the “Previously on The Mandalorian” recap segment at the beginning of an episode does not count for points. Anything seen in the concept art at the end of the episode does not count for points. Only the events occurring within the episode will count for points; after the helmet montage and before “Directed By…” appears at the end.

To enter the Mandalorian Season 3 Fantasy League, send an e-mail with your team name, player selections (one character per group – 9 total) with the subject line ‘Mandalorian Season 3 Fantasy League Entry’ to fantasyleaguegeek@gmail.com before midnight on 12/31/22 1/7/23 1/31/23.

FLG will post weekly updates with current scores and standings.

At the end of the season, the winner will receive a fabulous prize!

POINTS will be awarded (or deducted) according to the categories below.

ATTENDANCE POINTS

APPEARS IN AN EPISODE (+1 point)

Characters who appear in an episode are awarded 1 point. In order for a character to receive these points, they must visually appear in the episode. This means they must be physically present or appear in either a hologram or still image.

APPEARS AS HOLOGRAM (+2 points)

Any character who appears on screen as a hologram will be awarded 2 points.

APPEARS IN POST-CREDIT SCENE (+4 points)

In the event of a post-credit scene, an exception to the ‘in-episode’ rule will be implemented. Any character appearing in a post-credit scene (i.e., The Book Of Boba Fett tease in Chapter 16 of The Mandalorian) will be awarded 4 points. Post-credit scenes will not be eligible to earn ‘First’ or ‘Final’ points, but will be awarded (or penalized) points based on all other actions, visits, encounters, etc.

FIRST & FINAL

FIRST ON SCREEN (+5 points)

The first League character to appear on screen in an episode will be awarded 5 points. If the first character on screen is not a League character, then the first League character to appear will win these points. First on Screen points can be shared by more than one League character.

FIRST LINE (+5 points)

These points are awarded for the first lines spoken in the episode. If a League character speaks the first line of the episode, then they will be awarded 5 points. If the first line of the episode is spoken by a non-League character, then the first League character to speak will be awarded these points. Crying, moaning, beeping, screaming and babbling do not count as a line of dialogue. Only the first intelligible spoken line—in Basic or any other language, subtitled or not—will count for First Line points.

FINAL ON SCREEN (+3 points)

The final League character on screen will be awarded 3 points. If the final character on screen is not a League character, then the last League character to appear will win these points. Last on Screen points can be shared by more than one League character.

FINAL LINE (+3 points)

These points are awarded for the final lines spoken in the episode. If a League character speaks the final line of the episode, then they will be awarded 3 points. If the final line of the episode is uttered by a non-League character, then the final League character to speak will be awarded these points. Crying, moaning, beeping, screaming and babbling do not count as a line of dialogue. Only the final intelligible spoken line—in Basic or any other language, subtitled or not—will count for Final Line points.

FLASHBACK/MONTAGE

FLASHBACK (+1 point)

A narrative taking place at some point in a character’s past and occuring before the first chapter of The Mandalorian. Any League character shown in the flashback is awarded points.

IN-SHOW FLASHBACK (+2 points)

An in-show flashback is a narrative taking place in a character’s past but occurring between the first chapter of The Mandalorian and the present. Any League character shown in the flashback is awarded points.

MONTAGE (+3 points)

Any League character shown in a Training, Building, Repairing, or Preparing Montage is awarded 3 points.

DIALOGUE (+1.5 points)

The following words and phrases spoken by any League character will be awarded 1.5 points:

  • I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold
  • May the Force be with you
  • This is the Way
  • I have spoken
  • Dank farrick
  • Outer Rim
  • No droids
  • Spotchka

THE BESKAR JAR

When a non-League character says the word beskar, one point will be added to The Beskar Jar. Thereafter, when a League character says beskar, they will be awarded all the points accumulated in the jar, and the pot will reset to zero. If not won, the pot will roll over to the next episode, accumulating until there is a winner, but expiring at the end of the season. The pot can be won more than one time per episode. If it is determined that more than one League character says beskar at the same time, they will split the winnings in the jar. If a League character says beskar when there are no points in the jar, they will be awarded zero points.

LOCATIONS (+1 point)

Lando system?

Any League character who mentions the name of a city, planet, system, or sector will be awarded 1 point for each occurrence.

POTABLE POTABLES

EAT, DRINK, BE MERRY (+0.5 points)

Any League character who eats or drinks something not falling into the below categories will be awarded ½-point.

LIVE ANIMAL (+2 points)

Any League character who consumes a live animal will be awarded 2 points.

BLUE (+3 points)

Any League character who consumes a blue food or beverage will be awarded 3 points.

LIVE, BLUE ANIMAL BONUS (+1 point)

Any League character who consumes a live, blue animal will be awarded 1 bonus point, for a total of 6 points (+3 for Blue, + 2 for Live Animal, +1 Bonus Point.)

THE FORCE (+3 points)

The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.

Any League character who uses the Force will be awarded 3 points.

HOLDING GROGU

HOLDS GROGU (+0.5 points)

Any League character who holds Grogu will be awarded ½-point.

GROGU HELD (+1 points)

Grogu will be awarded 1 point each time he is held.

A hold begins the first time a character is seen carrying Grogu. Holds continue across scenes as long as Grogu is not put down. To end a hold, and for additional points to be scored, a character must be seen setting Grogu down or handing him to another character.

If Mando picks up Grogu on board his ship, both will be awarded points. If, in the next scene, Mando walks through a town, still holding Grogu, it will be assumed he has not set Grogu down, and neither will score additional points. Grogu cannot carry himself.

THE DARKSABER

Whoever wields it can rule all of Mandalore.

Any League character who wields the darksaber will be awarded 3 points.

Any League character who wields a lightsaber will be awarded 2 points.

A darksaber/lightsaber will not be considered wielded until the blade is ignited. A saber handle present in a scene, hanging from a belt, sheathed, or unactivated, will not be awarded points. Wielding can continue across scenes. A saber must be extinguished, then re-activated, to score additional points.

WIPE TRANSITION (+2 points)

George Lucas used classic wipes to transition between scenes in his Star Wars movies and The Mandalorian has continued this brand of film editing technique. Any League character who is on screen during a wipe transition will be awarded 2 points.

ENCOUNTERS AND VISITS

ENCOUNTERS

Any League character who is seen on screen with any of the following Star Wars staples will be awarded points:

  • Imperial Trooper (any helmeted variety: sand, scout, snow, storm, et al.) (+0.5 points)
  • Slave 1 (+1 point)
  • X-Wing Fighter (+1.5 points)
  • Hyperspace (starlines or blue tunnel) (+2 points)
  • Twin Suns (sunrise, sunset, and anything in between, though not limited to Tatooine.) (+2.5 points)
  • Mythosaur (+3 points)
  • The Millennium Falcon (+3.5 points)
  • The OT Crew (Han, Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, Lando, Palpatine) (+4 points)
  • Force Ghost (+5 points)

An encounter begins the first time any League character is seen on screen with any of the above. To end an encounter, a character must establish a visible presence away from it.

If a League character encounters stormtroopers and the scene cuts to another shot of a different angle of the same stormtroopers, this will be considered part of the initial encounter.

An established presence at a new location is required for additional points to be scored.

(Example: If a League character encounters stormtroopers on an Imperial ship, the League character does not receive additional points each time he engages with stormtroopers in different hallways, or areas of the ship.)

VISITS

A league character will be awarded points when they visit any of the following planets. A visit will begin the first time a League character approaches in a ship and lands, or is established to be present, at the following planets:

  • Tatooine (+1 point)
  • Nevarro (+2 points)
  • Luke’s Jedi Temple Planet (+3 points)
  • Mandalore (+4 points)
  • Coruscant (+5 points)

The visit will continue as long as the character is on the planet. The visit will be considered finished when the League character establishes a presence elsewhere.

Visits will span the full duration of the League character’s stay on the planet. Visits can continue across scenes and episodes. (Example: Mando visits Tatooine in Chapter 9 and has not left the planet at the start of Chapter 10. Because he never left Tatooine, he will not qualify for additional points for visiting Tatooine in Chapter 10.)

MISCELLANEOUS POINTS

FOB (+0.5 points)

Any League character on screen with a bounty fob will be awarded ½-point.

PUCK (+0.5 points)

Any League character on screen with a bounty puck will be awarded ½-point.

IDIOT’S ARRAY (+2 points)

Any League character who ignores Lord Vader’s instructions and disintegrates another character will incur a 1-point deduction for each infraction.

REMOVES HELMET (-2 points)

Any League character who removes their helmet will incur a 2-point deduction, and they will be a Mandalorian no more! If a League character, known to wear a helmet, is seen without it, this will not result in deducted points. Points are deducted only if the League character is seen removing the helmet. The League character does not have to remove the helmet themselves to lose points.

CARBON FREEZE (-3 points)

Any league character frozen in carbonite will incur a 3-point deduction.
